April 2015 Report

Farming God's Way Ministry
April 2015
This month has been a great month with so much work around the compound and in the fields.  April began with making field preparations in Mjomboni and Jimba.  We have two small Farming God's Way plots in Mjomboni with pastor Alphonse, which we will be doing trials on. We have a field size (1/2 acre) plot in Jimba with pastor Daniel. There are two smaller trials there, which are a part of that same field.  In Mjomboni we are going to be seeing the differences using anthill soil and NPK fertilizer.  In Jimba we will see the difference in goat manure with woodash and NPK fertilizer.  We have completely finished the planting and applying God’s blanket to the trials in Jimba.  We still need to finish the rest of the field.  In Mjomboni only one plot has been planted and no blanket added.  We will be finishing this trial and the other one in the next week.  The third location for the trials is at Gertrude’s house where we also have two trials.  The first trial has woodash with cow manure and the second trial only has NPK.  They are completely finished with God’s blanket and growing very nicely.  All that is left to do there is continue keeping weeds out and add a little more blanket as needed.  By now the plot in Jimba should be coming up. We will visit Jimba again this week also.  We will continue visiting all the plots weekly from now until harvest making sure they are weed free and we will be recording everything.

With all the work and business that has been going on around here this month, we have had a chance to get away.  Lindsey and I bought a dog.  Just so happens the owners also own a very nice resort near Mombasa.  So when I picked Lindsey and Ashley up from the airport in Mombasa we stayed the night with one of our friends.  She is also a missionary. The following day we all went to South Coast and spent the weekend there while we bought our dog. It was a very nice relaxing weekend.  I have never been one to just sit around, but I guess with all the business I was tired, therefore I sat on the beach and read all weekend.
The latter part of this month has been spent working in the fields, around the compound; on the Land Rover and on the buggy we bought for Singwaya trips. Here in the compound we have constantly had problems with our security lights so James and I fixed four big 500 watt flood lights that now make our yard look like a football stadium at night.  Two days after getting all of it done the power lines that run to our house fell on the wire, which runs the lights.  It did not tear up anything, but I do have to re-hang some wire. The dune buggy we bought has had a gas leak in the tank so we’ve gotten that all welded up.  Now I just need to finish putting the buggy back together.
The most awesome part of this month was being a very small part of starting the Midiani church. Early Sunday morning James, Lynn and I left for Mombasa to be a part of the baptisms and the starting of the church.  When we got to Mombasa the clutch in the new Land Rover stopped working.  We looked at it and realized that the problem wasn’t the clutch, but the fact that there were no bolts holding the transmission in, therefore allowing the clutch to push the transmission. We managed to get three bolts in it, which fixed our problem temporarily allowing us to continue on. James and I got to assist pastor Elli with baptisms by carrying him to the water and stabilizing him in the water since he is disabled. Brother Lynn got to preach.. I cannot explain how great that day was watching a group of believers come together and make that covenant before God.  Wow. Pray with us for more to come.
Prayers
Please pray with us for the fields to produce a great harvest. Pray for the churches here. Pray that the lord will open doors among the Orma and Pokomo tribes as we travel north in the next two weeks.
Support Needed
Monthly Support: Support is now at 85 percent and we are still praying the Lord through His churches will help reach our final goal.
